Lung Cancer in non-smokers: Exploring causes and risk factors
GeneralUnderlying lung disease is an important risk factor for lung cancer in non-smokers. Environmental exposures such as asbestos, chromium, and arsenic are also linked to lung cancer. Chronic exposure to cooking fumes from burning wood or frying is a cause of lung cancer in non-smokers. Lung Cancer in never smokers accounts for approximately 15-25% of the total lung cancer cases, and is a significant public health problem.
