Emergency contraception can be used in various situations, such as unprotected sex or missed regular contraceptive pills. It is easily available over the counter and can be used safely by all women. The emergency contraceptive pill has to be taken within 72 hours to 5 days of unprotected sex or failed contraceptive method.
